Great Scott…..

January (2018)

Your name is Scott. I have known you and your nuances from a distance – until now of course. I have never thought of you any more than just a running machine (your nickname) from your school at Homeland, the doyen of young men who do extremely well once they make it into the big wide world. You are no exception. They say you are capable of being the next human to break all of the records known to date for 100 and 200 metre sprints. So far you have achieved that around here and in the interschool, local and state inter-championships. Coming next to a stage near you, maybe the Olympics and world fame. And, you do of course have an Olympian champion in your midst in your father…….Owen Smithers. You probably got your great athletic ability from him. He was the 1948 1952, and the 1954 Olympic gold medalist for the 100 metres in three successive track dates. A fine specimen of an athlete, however he would never be as handsome as you. Tall, slim and of course athletic, but not too muscly, just enough. Strong legs and did I mention-handsome. I might be secretly armoured with you but the thick brown straggly hair and dark green piercing eyes pretty well drive me insane. I hope you feel the same….My Scott. Great Scott…
